The Hierarchy of Needs is a Universal Translator, like a Rosetta Stone, that proves it is a core solution to solving many of life’s problems. (Feeling lost? Is it the most important empowerment solution?) It is the right start. Would psychology feel lost without it?
This is demonstrated in the 12 Secrets and 12 Exercises found that correspond to the Hierarchy of Needs. The secrets and exercises reveal how many solutions to health, wealth, love, and personal growth are found with help from the Hierarchy of Needs.
The Hierarchy of Needs helped to launch Modern Psychology, including Humanistic Psychology (with its concept of Self-Actualization), Transpersonal Psychology (with its concept of Transcendence) and Positive Psychology (the name Abraham Maslow gave to his Psychology, of which the Hierarchy of Needs was the Model).
Therefore, the Hierarchy of Needs helped to launch three of the four forces of psychology:
Humanistic Psychology (the Second Force)
Transpersonal Psychology (the Third Force)
Positive Psychology (the Fourth Force)
[May the Force be With You]
21st Century Psychology may be considered part of the Third and Fourth Force or may eventually become a Fifth Force.
It includes solutions from Positive Psychology: The Hierarchy of Needs could more appropriately be called the Hierarchy of Well-Being. Interestingly enough, even though Transcendence is associated with Being, it seems to appear here as well.
Modern Physics: A stronger model for Hierarchy of needs could be referred to as a “Pebble in the Pond Model” found in Quantum Field Theory and throughout nature (as in the planets surrounding the sun and electrons surrounding the nucleus of an atom.)
The Unified Field Theory of Everything: Beyond time and space, in a field of higher dimensions, may correspond to Maslow’s concept of Transcendence. This is like Toward the Theory of Everything corresponding to Maslow’s book, “Toward a Psychology of Being.”
Cultural Correspondences: It was very important for Maslow to see how his model was supported in different cultures. Examples are also part of 21st Century Psychology.
In other words, the Hierarchy of Needs is like Santa Claus, a gift that keeps on giving.
Beginning with the next article, we will be providing a free sample of Book One: Introduction to the Hierarchy of Needs.
